Subject: 4920 Sprayer Axle Shims - Replacing

Northeast Nebraska
Hopefully you're out there Lil' Hoss

Driving my sprayer home from getting new tires on it tonight, I noticed the right front axle assembly is wobbling inside the tube. I know the slides inside are shot. With the tires out the back bows down a little. Probably needs all 4 corners done. Local mechanic said he can do them without removing any of the hoses. Is that right? I want to do the repairs myself unless someone says "no way."

I've got a S300 bobcat with pallet forks to chain the assembly up to slide it out. I've got a whole chest full of snap-on tools. I went to college for auto tech. I don't see what would be stopping me from doing it myself. I would like some pointers and maybe some do's and don'ts. It doesn't look that difficult at all, just a little cumbersome and awkward parts.

If you do slide the whole assembly out as one piece, how do you keep it from rotating? Or maybe I'm looking at this from the wrong way? I suppose i could chain it up to the pallet forks good enough to keep it from rolling.

Thanks
