Subject: John Deere 7200 reverse issue

Osakis, MN

Our 7200 that we've had for quite a few yrs. now has developed a problem when useing reverse gears.  It usually is a little slow to change directions when its cold out until it starts to warm up a bit, but now, when you shift from forward to reverse, you need to bring the shift lever all the way to fourth reverse for it to start moving.  If you shift through all 4 gears and get it to take off then you can use 1,2 or 3 but it will not go into reverse until you get all the way to 4th for whatever reason.  Is there a hydraulic issue here or is there something acting up in the powerquad.  Just wondering if anyone has ever experienced this.   (edit when you are shifting the tractor and it isn't moving you can hear the tractor's engine pull down like it always does when making gear shifts but there isn't anything happening as far as any movement, until the tractor shift into 4th, then it takes right off like normal,  everthing else seems normal once you get it into reverse.)
