Our Ford 8700 tractor, 401 engine,w/ 8000+ hours is down some on horsepower and the engine is a bit noisier. Uses about 1 litre of engine oil every 15 hours. Valves, head gasket and injectors done a few years ago. Would having the rod and crank bearings replaced help? How do you know when to do a lower engine update?
