Subject: Tips to calibrating Kinze planter please.

South Australia
I have just picked up a kinze finger pickup planter to plant some sunflowers and corn with.
It seems to be a home built bar with the kinze row units attached, it has no book and I assume the gearing is probably different to standard as well, I'm not sure.
This is all pretty new to me as these crops are not grown in my area and it is probably the only planter for 1000km.

Is there any tips to working out population or is it just a matter of calculating no. of plants per meter of row and driving along by trial and error on some bare ground until I get it right?

It currently has sorghum meeters in it and I have some sunflower and corn ones as well, not sure how to tell which is which I'm sure I'll work it out.

For interests sake I'm going to aim for 8000/ac for sunnies and 14,500/ac for corn. All dryland.

Thanks, Russ
