Subject: Soil Analysis Report ?

central - east central Minnesota -

Recieved my soil analysis report back - it's been pretty consistant with past yrs reports. P & K levels are High/very high. This is off an alfalfa field I need to break for a couple years. The stand is thin and dandylions are more and more abundant.

Anyway, the report list for Nitrate-N 4 ppm or 7lbs A in the 0-6 inch profile. What exactily does this mean? I was figuring a yr of corn for 2011 then soybeans then back to alfalfa. If the reports N level is 7lbs of N credit, could I assume that's not much N for the corn and consider Soybeans, with little reguard to the N credit? What's the N worth? The CEC is 17.5, ph is 6.9. Other info you'd need? Just ask. I"m not set up for corn, so I'd need to work with a neighbor for the corn rotation - drying, combineing, trucking ect. TIA
