Subject: torsional analysis = $$$$?

JD 8850 engine transplant complaints -

Lord has a minimum order of 5 flexible couplers since they don't have the one in stock that was recommended. Will ask for other options.

Asked Dad if he wanted to fix 4 more tractors. He was not giddy with excitement.

Called Ringfeder about their Acursaflex, talking with engineer yakking about torsional analysis necessary to make sure the coupling doesn't fail due to vibration frequency, temperature, torque .... Sounds expensive. Says I should call Detroit and Deere to get torsional analysis on engine and tranny. Um, so whom would I talk to about that?

Suggestions? Thinking of just using u-joints at this point, no fancy smancy stuff. Unless of course there is a market out there for four LCD-0600-39C couplers. :)
