Subject: Problems with Trimble FM 1000

Bridgeville, DE
We have been having many problems with our Trimble 1000 for several months. One of the issues we are having is that the Trimble does not operate well with our transpread. It will not allow for the spreading of dry products and will not allow for the input of variable rates with fertilizer. We never had these issues with our Insight. We have also had many problems with bringing the information from the Trimble into the office computer. When bringing information into the office computer from the Insight, only new information would come into the computer. Files that had been brought in and adjusted once were not brought in a second time. With the Trimble, the second time information is stored on a USB and brought into the office in a crop season, everything on the Trimble is brought in – even if the map had already been brought in and already existed in SMS. This leads to many difficulties. The maps, acres, and all other information associated with the crop are doubled. We are required to go through the entire list of farms and delete all the doubled information. Otherwise, our figures are wrong and our maps print out black, because SMS prints all the duplicated layers. We are dissatisfied with this piece of equipment, compared to the Insight, which never gave us such problems. However, we are very happy with the GPS and autosteer capabilities associated with the Trimble. We would really like to see an updated version of the software that takes care of all the mentioned issues. We're wondering if anyone else has had similar problems..
