N. IL | These moths have been getting more numerous for the past week and are now as thick as Corn Borer moths used to be 10 years ago. What are they? I have talked to several agronomists that aren't sure. About half the size of an ECB moth with few markings on the wings, a little bit of striping parrallel to the wing, but very faint. They are the only insect/moth we have had all summer and hope we never discover what they will turn into in the field. I have talked to several neighbors who are alarmed at the density of these things between 9-10 pm. The windshield and grill/bumpers are just filthy. Nevada, Iowa | Kind of strange, I was just trying to catch one and couldn't get it done without squishing too much for a picture. I just came in from the shop and they are thick as thieves under the mercury light. Can't be a good thing!

LeRoy IL | picture is a little to blurry for my phone. Google south western bean cutworm. They are flying in your area for a few weeks now.

Nevada, Iowa | I am sure there are some wbc moths out there but they are not the majority of what we are seeing.

N. IL | Don't think they are WBC moths. We had WBC traps out in previous years, these are smaller with stripes that are more faint. I looked up the green cloverworm moths, but saw several different colors of suspected moths. We have the worms in the soybeans for the first time in recent history.
