These moths have been getting more numerous for the past week and are now as thick as Corn Borer moths used to be 10 years ago.

What are they? I have talked to several agronomists that aren't sure. About half the size of an ECB moth with few markings on the wings, a little bit of striping parrallel to the wing, but very faint.

They are the only insect/moth we have had all summer and hope we never discover what they will turn into in the field. I have talked to several neighbors who are alarmed at the density of these things between 9-10 pm. The windshield and grill/bumpers are just filthy.

Kind of strange, I was just trying to catch one and couldn't get it done without squishing too much for a picture. I just came in from the shop and they are thick as thieves under the mercury light. Can't be a good thing!

picture is a little to blurry for my phone. Google south western bean cutworm. They are flying in your area for a few weeks now.

I am sure there are some wbc moths out there but they are not the majority of what we are seeing.

Don't think they are WBC moths. We had WBC traps out in previous years, these are smaller with stripes that are more faint.

I looked up the green cloverworm moths, but saw several different colors of suspected moths. We have the worms in the soybeans for the first time in recent history.

U of I Mike Gray says no problem for corn or soys. Not much info on it in the cornbelt.
