Subject: Roadkill GPS

Edson, Alberta, Canada

I was going down the highway y-day on my tractor and spotted something in the ditch. Being high up and travelling slow makes it easy to spot stuff. I found a GPS still in good shape. I know absolutely ZERO about GPS so thought I would run it past the good folks on AgTalk.
Would there be any personal identification on a GPS that a complete newbie would be able to find so I could attempt to return the GPS to it's rightful owner?
Do people register their GPS with the manufacturer so perhaps I could send in a serial number?
Any other bright ideas how I could find the owner and return it?
It is Garmin Nuvi 255.
Regards,
Dave.
