Subject: Frost damaged corn

Moweaqua, IL
Found a 40 that had some frost damage showing Monday morning. Scouted today for recovery with Effingham Clay's agronomist and CCA and found very little regrowth, 50% plus damaged or dead. Really odd looking. In places, 20 or 30 feet of row is missing. In others, every other plant is damaged. Really hit and miss. It really didn't get all that cold, 38 degrees or so. It probably will pay to replant it, but I'll see how it looks Saturday. I'm really leaning toward replant, given the thiness of the stand and the yield potienal of ther field. It's Dekalb 61-21 originally planted 4/15/10. It was the best stand I've had in that field in a while. 7th year no till/ strip-till corn, the best it ever looked after I planted it, no real wet spots or trashy places. Kind of depressing, but what are you gonna do.
