Subject: Verticillium Wilt in cotton...

Holly Island, AR
Last year, verticillium wilt hit a few of my fields worse than i've ever seen. Usually we have a little, and our county agent says that's a sign of a good year. But last year with our cool wet summer, it was terrible in those fields, i believe it cost 400 pounds or more in some. don't see it on sand, it's in our silt ground, or "white dirt" as we call it here, it's our best soil, but seems to have the most wilt. Anybody else have this problem other than around here last year. I did our county test plot for the extension, and that field had it. A fibermax variety really shined and seemed to have tolerance, wonder if there's any more variety's for the mid south that has tolerance to it..
