Was running our 8230 today and saw smoke and flames coming out from under the hood on the left side (door side). Turned the tail into the 35 mph wind, got out to look and started throwing dirt on it. The way I was parked the first 2 hand fulls blew back on me but after I went to the other side I was able to get enough dirt on it to put out the flames. Could still see some glowing red, raced to barn about a mile away and got after it with the air hose. Either a birds nest or dead wheat etc from our min til cover crop (probably both) built up between the exhaust manifold shield and on top of the exhaust manifold itself. I was running pretty hard and had engine temp up around 207/209 several times. Better check your tractors out guys! We found another 30 that had some trash built up in the same area. We are dealing with a lot of wind and driving thru terminated wheat cover that has some heads on it.
