Farming in NW Iowa | The local coop here has been preaching for years the need to alternate chemical families between corn and soybeans, Liberty Link corn and Roundup soybeans are the hot ticket, so they said. Now this year they say there is hardly any plain Liberty corn available so are pushing the Triple stack that is Roundup and Liberty resistant both. The seed brands they sell are Croplan Genetics, NK, and Dekalb. (Who would have guessed Monsanto would be involved?) A lot of guys who plant corn on corn are not very amused by this. Are there many other companies who offer a plain old LL variety without the rootworm trait? And maybe even without the BT, for a refuge? But then who plants a refuge anymore!! | |
