Frustrated Farmer
Posted 3/27/2010 07:46 (#1138553)
Subject: PBS-NOW segment

Silver Lake, Kansas
Mrs. Farmer here. I would like to encourage you all to go to the www.pbs.org site and go to the NOW section and look at the clips from Gasland. This is a documentary film on the problems of the natural gas drilling industry and how it impacts land, water, livestock. Where my brother and cousins live in southern Kansas there is now talk of water table issues due to "fracking" not sure I spelled that right. Every farmer and rancher needs to understand how this industry may hurt you and yours. The image of being able to hold a lite lighter under the water coming out of the kitchen tap and have a fire like the homeowner in Colorado should create fear and concern for our rural families. The oil and gas industry count on us to not ask questions and just take the money and run, don't do it. I have been following this industry for over five years now. I fear for the future of our land, water, and health. This film is a way for you to understand some of the issues involved.
