Subject: Ethanol competition

EC IL
The future of the sugar industry in South America in anticipation of producing and shipping ethanol to the US duty-free is glowing red hot. Oh, and the duty-free part is in effect now for several Central and SA countries. Capital is flowing big time to these countries to make sugar based ethanol available as soon as possible for export. This development alone will be a major impact on the future growth of US production of corn based ethanol as perceived by some pie-in-the-sky types. The laws of economics have not been repealed. If imported ethanol is available to big oil for less cost than corn alcohol, which one will they use for the mandated oxygenated additive?
