Subject: Farm equipment on the road

As per comments last week, I just came across this story yesterday. Whether guilty
or not, I hope it will make farmers think before they move farm equipment on road
and have the proper lighting and warning equipment.(reflective tape doesn't cost a lot
of money)

Man charged in fatal highway crash
CBC News

A 41-year-old man has been charged in connection with a fatal crash last summer on
the Yellowhead Highway.

Jason Hargreaves, 22, of Brandon, was killed in June when his car crashed into a
parked pickup truck that had been towing farm equipment.

The truck appeared to have suffered mechanical problems and was left abandoned
on the side of the highway near the Saskatchewan-Manitoba border, about 15
kilometres west of Russell, Man., RCMP said.

Hargreaves' car slammed into the truck and equipment at about 1 a.m. He was the
sole occupant in the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said, adding
alcohol was not a factor in the collision.

Gerald Vermette, 41, of St. Pierre-Jolys, has been charged with criminal negligence
causing death and dangerous operation of a vehicle.

He is scheduled to appear in Russell provincial court on Feb. 24.
