Subject: Sidedress vs all N at planting

IL
Is there really year in and year out advantage to splitting the N appl between planting time and later with a sidedress? Presently I am putting down all my N same day as , or within a few days of planting......135#-160# of N. With this yrs Extemely Wet conditions, an additional appl would have helped. But I had one field of corn that stripped beatifully, and planted beautiful, and yielded 200 w/135# N same day of planting ( bean stubble), Personally I would rather not make the extra trip across the field ( and run down end rows) if I didn't have to, but if the yield will boost enough, it would be worth it.

I know, I know, tissue test would have told me ( Ed), but with another 'full' time job, hard to get everything done. Actually, how realiable are the inseason tests?
