Subject: disc blades for corn stalks

mid Illinois
Anybody have a particular disc blade size, brand, spacing, etc, that they like on a disc for cutting corn stalks? I had a heavy Amco disc that had big 24" blades that were also thick, and the blades were always dull, even shortly after a resharpening. Looked to me like big blades were too thick to stay shape as they wore. I think the 20" IH blades on a 490 disc did a better job, and stayed sharp better, even though that disc was not heavy enough. Don't know anything about notched blades as they are not used in these parts. Any suggestion appreciated, as I really need to update discs. (within budget of course! LOL)
