Subject: Towing grain cart home

North Central Iowa

I know this has come up on here several times and I went back and searched the archives Sunday to see what the general consensus was.  I ended up towing a Brent 770 home approximately 220 miles with a 3/4 ton pickup, and contrary to some expectations from previous posters, I did not get into or cause any accidents.  I wouldn't want to do it every day, but it wasn't too bad and I was able to run 50-55 mph pretty steady most of the way.  I did drop the air pressure in the tires to about 25 psi (this was on 24.5-32 diamond tread tires).  I wired an adapter to go from my trailer plug on the pickup to work with the lights on the cart and used a heavy duty hitch in my receiver.  Don't ask about gas mileage, especially since I was going pretty much straight into a 15mph headwind with occasional gusts.

Thanks to everybody that has answered questions about this in the past!!

Mike
