Subject: simple handheld GPS unit

West Union, Illinois

I have a landlord who would like a handheld GPS unit for his personal use.  He wants to be able to punch a button, ride his 4 wheeler around the pasture, and know how many acres it is.  He also would like to be able to punch a button, stick it in his pocket and go turkey hunting, and when he wants to come home punch a button and find his way back to the truck.

He went to Gander Mountain and bought a ... Magellan I think.  After he couldn't figure it out he took it to his neighbor with a Garmen who called me.  I'm afraid I knew less than the neighbor did.

As I understand it with his Magellan to measure an area he had to put in way points every time he changed directions.  Did you ever try explaining something like that to an 80+ year old man?

The neighbor told him to take it back but couldn't offer a suggestion on what to get.

Does anyone have a specific suggestion to offer him?
