Subject: UAN versus ammonia

Prices per unit of UAN 28% and ammonia are pretty much even by the time you figure the extra cost of using N-Serve and application costs for ammonia.

What has been your experiences of using all UAN preplant incorporated?

I like the idea of not putting ammonia on in the fall so I don't have to fear losing it. But I know there must be downside to using 28%.

Many of you might be thinking it is best to split applications or sidedress. We don't have the capability to sidedress and it costs a lot an acre to split applications because of the extra cost of having it pulled on and N-serve.

I'm in central Illinois. Soil type is flat black with a new tile system so it should be well drained. This is CORN AFTER CORN.

I was considering using 170 units of N as 28% Preplant incorporated with some herbicide.

What would you guys do?
Thanks.
