Saronville NE | Went to Monsantos new water management facility at Gothenburg NE today. Lots of different stuff to see, from the history of corn and how it has come this far and they actually have the old stuff planted from 2k yrs ago till today and how it has come about. Lots of different water management tools, underground drip tape, to Linear pivots. The one thing they really stressed is that within the next 20 yrs there goal is to see corn and bean yeilds double. With all the new stacks and traits they are workin on it wont be long and corn will be $500+ a bag, even had a guy in our group comment about how much they go up on price of seed that it is hard to gain enuff on our end, our guide kinda ignored that comment and didnt say much, thought that was kinda funny. It was hard to see how there drought corn was workin cause they have had so much more rain there then we have here locally, but the ears they had on display truly showed a yield advantage over the regular corn. Bad part of the whole day is sounds like theyre price is going up again, so pry wont be planting much of it next yr either, unless something really changes between now and order time, and how my plot turns out. | |
