Southeastern, IL | I have heard every combination how to kill Aphids in soybeans. Hero at 5oz rate. Warrior at 1.2 oz and Lorsban at 4 oz rate to gas them little buggers out. What are you guys running to kill them. |

|
NESD | We have been using a generic warrior called silencer at a rate of 2.5 oz and we have used it at a rate of 3.2 oz. And for the Lorsban we also use a generic called eraser at a rate of 1 to 2 pints per ac. |

| how much does that cost?

|
| I used a pint per acre of Lorsban and I hired a plane and the total cost was $12.50 per acre. Jim J |

Casey Illinois | I just sprayed 300 acres this afternoon using Hero at 5 oz/acre. $9 to 10 range, I sprayed it myself so saved some that way. It also has residual so it should last about 3 weeks. Lots of self-propelled rigs running along with the airplanes. Been watching for 2 weeks and now the are really multiplying, thought we just as well get it over with, only need 1 bushel to cover the cost. |

| Hero at 4-5 oz for $.9-10. Wow, works good though. Generic lorsban works great and when mixed at 4oz with any pyrthoid it works really well. |

| Unless you have like 4000-5000 per plant like I saw today then you better use some Penncap-M. Complete,100%, no questions asked instant death. I like Penncapp-M only insecticide I have never recieved a complaint on period! |

USA | Bugkiller,
Have never deal with Aphids before. Local plane guy talked to some of his buddies in NIL. They told him to use 1 pint Generic Lorsban. We decided to follow their advice, since neither one of use knew diddly squat about the situation, looks like it is working. Also tried 3 oz Silencer on some, looks like it got them also.
Never thought we would have to deal with them down here, but we have had NIA, SMN weather all summer here too.

Southeastern, IL | I talked to a Dow rep earlier this evening and he said that there was no reason to add a pyrhroid when using Lorsban this late in the season at 1pt rate. |

| Another option you might look at starting in 2010 is aphid Tolerant soybeans or "Aphid Management System" from Syngenta. I've seen them in a few trials this year and its impressive. You can walk down the split row and find 1000 on the isoline and find next to zero on the "AMS" soybeans. I would ask your local seed dealer about them. Could be huge. |

| I dont know anything about soybean aphids but if they are anything like the aphids we face in the cotton patch. We have to use a systemic material to get the job done. Just a contact material will not touch them. Centric works great on aphid in cotton and Endigo has a label for soybeans. Which all that is, is a premix of centric and karate for 5.5 oz rate and that is a high rate you get 3 week control of aphids and contact control of all worms for less then 9 bucks per acre.

| 1 pt of generic lorsban if fine for just killing aphids but offers little residual for bean leaf beetles as cheap as these synthetics are getting why not use them for longer residual you may pic up a few more rootworms for next year? |

|
NESD | The silencer we used was $2.53 an ac for the 3.2oz rate and we hired the plane for $7.00 an ac. The generic Lorsban at a rate of 1pt was $3.58 an ac. |
