West TN | Look to replace the last gas burning grain truck with a diesel. The truck has a 16ft grain bed that we are going to pull off and set on another truck. Found a GMC Topkick with a cat 3116 that is a long frame single axle with a pusher axle, which is the setup we are looking for. Don't know much about the cat engine though. Are they good motors? Will it pull a 500-600 bu load pretty well. How do they compare to a dt466 power wise? We were originally looking for something with a dt466, however I would really like to have something a little stouter than that. Have gotten used to driving the other trucks with cummins M11's. But this is going to be a low budget project, and any diesel should be better than the 366 gas. | |
