I have tried numerous portable radios with built in and external antennas in our metal shop to no avail. I notice if I place them outside the shop they do well. I just want a simple radio preferably with built in speaker to sit on a shelf or mounted to wall permanently. I think I need something with an antenna jack and then place an antenna outside. Can anybody here give me a recommendation? I have researched but can't seem to find a simple portable style radio with an antenna jack. I guess I could use an old car radio and buy a 12vdc power supply with remote speakers but that seems like a lot of trouble. Any advice would be deeply appreciated.
