Subject: Overgrown Yucca!

North East Wimmera district of Victoria.

G'day !  First of all I have mis-spelt the name of the garden plant in the photo!

That aside - how would you keen gardeners on NAT deal with it - or them!  There is more than one.!

The photo shows the plant next to our kerbside mail box, which is a bit more than waist high on me - and I'm 5'8". The tops are 10 - 12 ft tall. My guess 15 years they have been there.

As you can see lots of dry/dead fronds hanging down, not looking good, and re-growth from low on the heavy trunks.

First thought, clip all the dead stuff off and make the trunks more presentable. This would be quite a big job.

Second thought - take a chain saw to the heavy trunks, below the new growth height, and let them head upwards again.

The lady of the house is not keen on the second thought, and I'm not keen on the first!

Open to suggestions from you always helpful NAT'ers.

Thanks
