Subject: Annual investment gift to my kid

Oregon
My great mother bought all her great grand children savings bonds for their birthday. At the time I didn’t appreciate it, now that I’m older and almost all of them have matured to a total of $10k…I now realize the lesson, forward thinking, and the meaning of her gift.

I now have a kid who is about to turn one years old and I would like to do something similar, something that can be seen, touched, and valued (every year my dad and I would value my collection of bonds…good exercise)

I’m thinking about buying $500 of physical silver or gold or something like that on an annual basis. Go in the safe and if he wants to cash it out in 15 years to buy cattle or something then that’ll expand the education.

What are your thoughts/ideas?
