Lincoln County. NC | Most discussions of Maine here are focused on the coast. That's great, we love coastal Maine too, especially the mid coast. This year we are venturing back to the Moosehead Lake region. On the way we stopped and took the short walk to Moxie Falls which is north of Skowhegan then took mostly privately owned logging roads to our Greenville destination. Large tracts of the Maine woods are served only by these privately owned and maintained roads. We got to Greenville just as the Katahdin docked. She was built at the Bath Iron Works in 1914 and shipped by rail in sections to Greenville where she was assembled and launched. She is the oldest BIW hull in service.
