Walcott, IA...by the big truck stop | We have been lucky to get right at average rainfall to date in the immediate area west of Davenport. The tank was recharged with good soaking rains early and then it got really dry mid to late April for great planting conditions. There was a bit of a cool wet spell through May but luckily things had already emerged and that helped to fill the tanks some more. Had a few pop up very localized showers this week drop some nice rain and got caught out in one spraying some waterways today.
I can't say the same for the farms north of Ames as things have been extremely dry there. The corn is holding on and stands are good, but stress is starting to show in the heat of the day. Bean stands are good, but they haven't progressed much with the dryness.
