coast of Maine | The tale goes a guy in the central part of the state had a contract for mulch hay with the state of Maine DOT,he had lots of perennial Bedstraw and thus its spread all over the state and NB,CA.This weed takes any non intensely managed hay ground and just about ruins the forage quality.Seems its worse here than ever as the warmest winter with zero ground frost kept these weeds above the grass from the get go.Spreads with seeds and rhizomes .This is only a medium infestation ,blooming so much it smells in some areas. If you see it ,kill it.Our rotations with veg/hay work for a few seasons.Killing with herbicides is only temporary.I"ll let a local goat farmer hay this section.Crossbow I assume is still labeled but seems very easily defeated by this weed.
