Subject: Testing freezer thermostat?

West Central IA
Our Kenmore freezer quit cooling today (good thing it’s basically a deep freeze outside) and I’m wondering if anyone knows how to test this thermostat.
I put power directly to the compressor and it ran and seemed to cool, so I’m assuming the thermostat might be junk but there’s 4 wires that go to it (top one obviously ground ) and I don’t know how to test it. Any ideas?
I also tried to jump the defrost thermostat with no change.
