Subject: New holland 488 cutter bearing preload

Picked up some nice 488 and 479 machines I noticed that the arm that sits on the wobble box that has the sickle knife bar connected to it has a little up and down play in it who ever had it put a newer style arm on it, the manual says to take shins out until bearings have about 2-6 inch lbs of preload on them? How is this possible or done so cause I’m some what confused as to how you check it. Also when I was looking at them the owner told me that they had welded in a new floor over old one he said the floor warped a little when the guy was welding on it, and that they it should be fine, however when looking st all the old cutter bars he gave me they were all grooves out on the back side of the blades in some sections. I went and turned cutter over by hand and noticed that the bar moves kind of at an angle instead of moving straightly side to side, idk if this has anything to do with the issue with loose bearings or if the floor being warped caused this to happen?
