Subject: JD planter control

nc ks
Anybody really like using a Trimble 2050 to control their JD planter? My son wants to try it but I say let the 2050 do its steering and gps thing and let a 2600 or 2630 run the planter. He wants to eliminate a screen, but I would rather have two that are showing their own info at the same time.

We will have three tractors capable of handling the air seeder and planters.

The other two tractors have Trimble steering and then 2600's to control the seeders and they can be interchanged seamlessly with the seeder/planter profile already saved into the 2600s, just hook up and go.

Seems to me that getting an airseeder and two different planters to all work perfectly with the 2050 would take a lot of time and frustration, especially getting row clutches to turn off and on at the correct time.

Money wise, it is supposed to take an additional $2600 to make the 2050 work with the planter. What is a 2600 or 2630 that is already unlocked for swath control gonna cost?

Edit to add, all JD equipment. The reason for Trimble for steering is Centerpoint rtx and Rangepoint rtx.

These are my thoughts and opinions, but I am old. Rip or confirm at will.
