Subject: Wanting to Make Beef Mineral Supplement

Waddington, NY
I have a small herd of about 80 Red Angus cows and heifers in Northern New York. I am looking to see what I should be feeding them for a supplement as far as minerals and maybe a little grain mix. They currently are fed dry hay and sometimes a little bit of corn silage. The hay is very good second cut mix of reeds canary and alfalfa stored inside. I am only giving them free choice salt now. I was thinking of making a ground dry corn meal and mineral mix in my grinder but not sure what I should use. I have canola meal available also. I dairy also but Angus sure put weight on a lot easier then Holsteins and I just want to make sure I am giving them the right goods.
