| Local welding shop burnt fri afternoon. They were adding an addition to an all steel building. Normally 3 full time workers, but owner was gone to a funeral, 2nd employee went home sick. Oldest son was working by himself welding an I beam rafter to the I beam leg.
Foam got hot and flashed over, he said in less than 5 minutes the entire shop was on fire. Total loss on the building, he thinks all the big equip is OK, maybe just some minor wiring. many small hand power tools kinda melted the case.. Just a guess, but about 80x120 was the size of the shop, built about 4-5 years ago.
The good thing - if there is one, he is a horse and buggy Mennonite, it was cleaned up by Sat night, & the new shop will have tin on by tonight.
Still be a while before he is back in business. The new shop will be bigger, he's making a few changes that he's found he wanted different.
I had just left, maybe 20 minutes, before the call went out.
