Ripley, Ontario Canada | I have an older B&S engine with mechanical points ignition that I am having trouble keeping the points working. It seems every time I need the engine to run I have to file the points. It usually sits for 6 months between uses (it is a portable generator) and I really need it to run when I want to start it because the power is usually out. What can I do to keep the points from corroding? I sprayed WD40 on them when I shut it down this time, will that help?
