Northwest Missouri | Heifer calved 3 weeks ago and never claimed the calf. Put her in a small pen and he went right to eating, never had to make her stand for him or anything. So let them out after a few days, back into the 5 acre pasture with the rest of the heifers and she wants nothing to do with the calf. After two days obvious she hasn't been milked and calf hasn't eaten. So back in the pen and she stands and lets him eat no problem. Left her in there a week or so and let them out again and repeated the scenario. So back in the small pen.
I've never had one that wouldn't develop a bond at all with the calf, especially after 3 weeks. Will she ever take care of him? | |
