My tissue samples came back with uniformly low Boron & Zn levels, 4 & 20 ppm respectively(corn only). I was surprised with the Zn as I, as well as Dad before me, have used about a qt/acre in with the starter for many (25+)years. So in planning for the upcoming corn crop, I am figuring on adding more Zn to the starter, but wonder about the Boron. These links go over mixing with Liquid fertilizers as well as foliar applications. http://www.borax.com/agriculture/files/an402.pdf http://www.borax.com/agriculture/files/solubordf_fruitnuts.pdf Yet even after reading these among other data, I wonder which would give more bang for the buck. Would foliar apps with Glyphosate/Gluphosinate cause antagonism? I feel foliar vs root feeding would be a quicker response, yet like the idea of leaving a band of Boron from the starter as I plant on the same rows each year. I am somewhat cautious about the toxicity of Boron. So I am looking for your experience/ advice. |
