Amherst WI | I am currently feeding ground HMSC, a protein pellet, and some dry hay that went through a baler with a cutter in it. There's a good chance the diet will change slightly to DDG's and a liquid feed for the protein/mineral source and the HMSC and hay will stay in there.
My current mixer is a 3300 Knight. It doesn't like big loads or much long hay. Last night after I quit combining for the night after my rotor belt broke I got to break the mixer in the process of feeding steers. Hay wedged under the reel and it broke the chain.
It has a few other issues too so I am very tempted to replace it. A new mixer is tempting since I won't need to buy another one for a decade or two if I go that route, but being the miser I am I would rather go used. I do like how the Knight doesn't take much power to run so if I am short on tractors I can put the 65 hp tractor on it.
What would you guys recommend for a mixer wagon? | |
