I am in need of a new desktop I guess as it has had a HDD warning icon on for 2 years or so and today (when we shut the electric off to set new poles to new bins ) the thing won't load up just gets to the screen  with the mouse courser is on the screen and stops there wont go any further . My question is , is a new OS coming out anytime soon to replace vista and I should wait , or just get a new desktop with vista and go on ?

The old desktop ain't really that old , but never impressed me as something never worked right with it, it's a Dell demention 8400.  All I see on Dell's website has vista no xp listed , the laptop has vista and it works ok but not as fast as should be. I can put old laptop in it's place if something newer is coming out soon and I should wait .

 I have been thinking of going to office deopt and getting a desktop but have heard a new OS might be coming and not use as much memory.

Any recomendations ?
