Subject: Canopy 30 inch beans East West vs North South

Macon, IL
Walking crops early this am. Beans are close to canopy-30" rows planted 4/26-5/16.

What I noticed was sunlight still hitting the ground on the East/West rows-looks like it will be all day-but pretty narrow strip now.

The North South rows were completely shading the ground at early AM-around 10-2 the sun may hit there-but then will be shaded again.

Anyone know of any studies done on EastWest VS NorthSouth-particularly as it applies to crop canopy? Not so much thinking yield-but rather weed control.
