Subject: When is it better to trade up a size verses chip a tractor?

South-central Nebraska
I've got an 8335R with 1600 hours, If I ever needed more power would it make more sense to trade up to a 8360/8370R or chip my 8335R? I've had one power chip and it was on a combine and it caused more trouble than anything. Something wasn't right and it was professionally installed. Took it off and put back on shelf. Are there right and wrong times to chip tractors other than when it is new or still warrantied? Do dealers frown when the tractor comes in for yearly service?
