Subject: Goldsky and 2-4d on spring wheat: when is it too late?

I've got some wet spots that are just getting fit and would like to finish up the Goldsky/2-4d (pidgeon grass, curly dock). Problem is I'd say a lot of it is just starting to show the flag leaf. The book says don't spray after Zadoks Stage 31, the interwebs tells me flag is about Zadoks Stage 37. Any experience here would be appreciated. I don't know much about the stages of wheat (My stages are: just sprouted, time to irrigate, or time to combine). Thanks in advance.
