Subject: Oil tank location for wet kit

Currently we have one semi tractor settup with a wet kit. The hyd oil tank is mounted on the side of the tractor frame. We are discussing putting a wet kit on our other tractor as a backup. Currently trying to haul lime & am having some issues with the tractor with the wet kit.

I have seen a few trucks settup where the tank is mounted to the trailer frame. That looks to me that there would be some merrit to having it located on the trailer instead of the tractor. Biggest advantage would be the need for only one tank & wouldn't need to buy extra oil. Another would be that when we are pulling our hopperbottoms we wouldn't be carrying that extra weight all the time. Disadvantage would be that we would be limited to pulling just our dump trailer though we have never pulled anyone elses.

Any one else have their dump trailer settup this way? I would appreciated any comments, either pro or negative on this.

TIA,
boog
