Subject: I'll add to the question below about heifer birthing age.......feeding replacement heifers??

Southeast Colorado
I did a little trading and have 25 really nice 11 month old angus x heifers. The rest of our cows are fall calvers so I will not put a bull in with these until December 1st. We will utilize a combination of grass pasture along with supplementing cane feed until 2016 fall wheat pasture and stalks are available. What concerns do you experts have as far as body condition before and during pregnancy? I do realize that these calves will be 30 months old when calving but I mainly like calving in Sept/Oct. due to the availability of quality forage (wheat pasture) and cooler temperatures. However...........if it would be a good idea to give the heifer a longer rest before breeding back for the second calf............I could move the date up a little for her first.
