Subject: Fuel ethanol's next (big) challenge?

Centre county Pennsylvania, USA
Gasoline and fuel alcohol producers are currently supplying most of US automobile fuel, 90% from gasoline and 10% from fuel alcohol (mostly fuel ethanol). That market may soon be challenged by incredible advances in Lithium-air battery technology. Lithium-air batteries, now under development, appear to have gravimetric energy density similar to gasoline. IOW, a 200 pound lithium-air battery will provide fuel range similar to that provided by 200 pounds ( 30 gallons) of gasoline between recharge (refill) cycles. Attached chart shows gravimetric energy density for current battery cells and the emerging lithium-air battery cells.

Any guesses on the outcome of that possible game changer?
