West Cental Arkansas | I spent 7 years in the Air National Guard from 1972-1979. Was discharged honorably. Still see some of the guys I served with. It was a good learning experience for me as a young man.
Now for my question---During the time period I was in the Guards was a peaceful time in our country. Our unit was never activated, I never did active duty, and never was in harm's way.
I did everything that I was ordered or told to do by my superiors. I never received or now do I receive any benefits for my 7 years of service.
When I am somewhere and they ask for all Veterans to stand to be recognized, I have a problem of feeling like a veteran. Does anyone else feel this way?? | |
