Subject: JD 1780 planter?

Been considering a 16/31 row 1780 planter. Now I am old school and don't know much about the vacuum system on these planters, so all you young whippersnappers will probably laugh at me. How much hydraulics do they need? Does the vacuum run off the same hydraulic line that raises / lowers the planter (lever lowers the planter and then stays down in the "float" mode to run the vacuum)? I have been planting with a very simple JD 8 row planter for years and am looking to upgrade. I have used a neighbors Kinze 3600 and loved it, just don't have that kind of money right now. Will be pulling it with a JD 8640. I know what everyone thinks about these old beasts but mine has been great and not given me any trouble, and for some odd reason I just like it. It is a closed center hydraulic system with something like 33GPM flow. Any info is greatly appreciated.
