My son in law and I finished our solar panel installation projects this past weekend. We helped each other and did most of the labor on these installations ourselves. His 16 panels are on his south facing roof on the back of their house and should put out a peak of about 4 kw in the summer. I recall he said they were about 3.1 kw the other afternoon. My installation is a ground array of 20 panels which should max out at about 5 kw. They were putting out 3.7 kw this fall afternoon. I think I am going to extend the west (threaded) end of the two 3" pipes a bit and add another column of 4 to bring the total to 24 panels on this array. Wiring is all there so might as well use it. Here are some pictures. I also have 12 panels on my hay shed roof, mostly to power cattle waterer heaters in the winter. It is amazing to be able to produce much of your own electrical power.
