Subject: chopping dry roast peanuts

North West IA/western AZ
My wife is getting ready to make candy and is always challenged to chop the peanuts to the proper size for peanut rolls without grinding them to dust. The best results so far comes from breaking each 1/2 into quarters manually. A very slow and tedious task. Has anyone mastered this task with a quicker and easier method? Can small pieces be found in a store somewhere? Thanks
